Plant a Seed of Hope

Plant a Seed of Hope

Every seed starts small, but with care and time, it can grow into something wonderful.

In the same way, every act of kindness can impact someone for a lifetime. By supporting the Christmas Bureau, you help bring hope, food, and comfort to people in our community when they need it most.

Plant these seeds as a reminder that even the smallest actions can help something meaningful grow.

Thank you for helping hope take root.

Contender beans are a reliable heirloom bush variety prized for tender pods, rich flavour, and excellent heat tolerance. Early, productive plants grow well in home gardens and in containers.

When to Sow: Direct sow outdoors after last frost once soil warms in spring.

Location: Plant in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil for best yields.

Planting: Sow 2-3 cm (1 inch) deep. Space 10-15 cmm (4-6 inches) apart in rows 45-60 cm (18-24 inches).

Harvesting: Harvest young pods at 13-15 cm (5-6 inches) for best flavour. Pick often to encourage production.
