About the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton

Since 1940, the Christmas Bureau has maintained one tradition - providing a festive meal and coordination of Christmas giving to Edmontonians in need at Christmastime through the promotion of the spirit of Christmas caring and sharing in the City of Edmonton.

Non-denominational and accessible to all Edmontonians in need, we are a connector of over 90 social service agencies providing those in need a one stop application process for Christmas services. Client information is compiled by the Christmas Bureau into a database to provide food gift cards to accommodate all dietary needs. The client list is also used to provide gift cards for teens aged 13 to 17 years through the Christmas Bureau’s Adopt-A-Teen program and by 630 CHED Santas Anonymous for the delivery of toys to children ages 0 to 12 years.

In 2022, 60,582 individuals were provided a festive meal with 17,355 more applications approved (+69%) and 6,962 teens aged 13 to 17 were provided a holiday gift card.

"As a single dad, you have no idea how much this means to me. I’ve never asked for help with anything before and ’ve always told myself there were people in the world who were struggling more than we were, but this morning two amazing people showed up at my door with enough food for a month. You have no idea how much this means to me. All of you are truly amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
